I love the idea that a piece of clothing can change the way someone feels the moment they put it on. I’m fascinated by fashion, psychology, destiny, and the stories people tell without saying a word. My inspiration comes from aliens, ancient history, synchronicity, Pokémon, and people who have lived through darkness and come back with their inner child intact. My clothing really isn’t meant for most people. If a piece I create helps someone step just beyond the edge of who they thought they were, I’ve done my job.

My name is Malaya which means Freedom. Given to me when I came to this life, and I am grateful for the blueprint it offered. When I was a child my mom asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said, “a fashion designer!” I haven’t yet lived out this dream, though it has never left me. I enjoy the beauties of life and love creating from a place that captures and respects beauty while acknowledging that contrast is truly beautiful. This opportunity to participate in Sedona Fashion Lab is a dream come true.

Zenka Caro makes the impossible possible. She is the founder of the nonprofit LightNet and creator of the Dream Machine. This year, her fashion line explores what she calls “Indigenous Galactic,” combining bleach dye, Marko Rodin’s vortex mathematics, and spoon-bending Matrix themes. The collection also honors her late boyfriend, Standing Bears, an Indigenous author, open-ocean long-distance swimming champion, and founder of We Are the Medicine Circles.

JESSELYNN DESMOND
Danielle Kort grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska before launching a career at the heart of the fashion industry — interning with Nicole Miller, designing for Mudd Jeans and Hotkiss, and sourcing fabric for Calvin Klein's bridge line, ck. But as the true cost of fast fashion became impossible to ignore, Danielle followed a deeper calling. She reinvented herself as a transformational life coach, destination retreat leader, and author of Wild Spirit Fire: Freedom from Fear and Separation. Today she creates experiences that awaken — from Women Breaking Plates to a consciousness and AI conference at MIT. Returning to fashion feels like a homecoming with a message.

Amanda Reay is a devoted artist inspired by the natural world and the full spectrum of the human experience. She creates garments that adorn the body and nurture presence and softness. Working with plant dyes and natural fibers, she designs and hand-dyes timeless pieces that honor the beauty of the Earth and the stories carried within each wearer. Every creation is crafted with the intention to offer comfort and beauty to the wearer. As a lifelong lover of fashion, sustainability, thrifting, and upcycling, Inok is now the proud owner and primary curator of Up & Coming Boutique & Gallery in downtown Flagstaff. This eclectic collective features curated pre-owned and upcycled clothing from several local clothing brands, and artwork and handmade goods from 3 dozen+ local artists and creators.

i am a lifelong artist and maker/designer of things, from painting, sculpure (wood, metal, ceramics), dance, and clothing design and creation. basicaly, i think up sometiing i want, and make it.
i began making much of my own clothing about 6 years ago, after getting fed up with finding nothing that fit my stile and needs in the clothing stores. i have developed my clothing making craft to satisfy my desires for clothing that is fun, comfortable, moves with ease in all the ways that i do, and is an extension and expression of the creative and adventuriouse way i like to live life. i love building bold, strong, and versatile aparal and have developed my own unique stile here.
i hope you enjoy seeing these thing as much as i enjoy bringing them out.

Mary is an author, personality specialist, and creative spirit who sees Sedona as a living playground of beauty, magic, and endless possibility. Sewing since childhood, she delights in up-cycling thrift-store treasures into, one-of-a-kind creations. She especially loves connecting with beginners or those returning to sewing after a pause. For Mary, the magic is watching a spark turn to a shimmer of ideas then burst into joyful expressions of imagination! She treasures sewing side by side with people of all ages and backgrounds as they transform fabrics, textures and old favorites into fresh delights, supporting one another and celebrating as unique fashions come to life. Volunteering for Fashion Lab Sedona through all things fashion is her way of giving back and connecting with community. She started out as a graphic artist for various design and print companies in Orange County California, and later became a fashion and graphic designer for MycraPac Designer Wear in the Bay Area, Art Director for Nevada Magazine, and Technical Fashion Designer at Jaquelyne Love designs in Lake Tahoe.
Denise and Mike Martinet have collaborated on a fusion of graphics and fashion using direct digital fabric printing at BarrMartDesigns.com.

Hi. Im Lyon, I enjoy things that dont seem like they go together. Things that take ideas we've had for a long time and melds them into something unique. I like things that are cool or pretty to look at, but hide a useful or practical aspect beneath itself. I've always drawn inspiration from history, sci-fi, anime, etc. To paint these fusions. Call it eclectic functionality. With clothing, it's the same. Not just coverings for our trmples, but art that decorates them and the voices of our imaginations given canvas.

I've recently moved out West for the 2nd time & am grateful to call the desert, home. I love playing in the realms of art, creativity, design - pushing the boundaries of expression. I'm partnered with a Modeling Agency & fashion is more than name brands or labels to me. I aim to make sustainable efforts everyday & utilize all resources I can to prevent more waste. I consider myself a lifestyle Artist, a creative manifestation from source itself & often ponder about what it means to make art, be art & organically express myself, as one with all of life!
